How We Help - FAQsWHAT IS NORTHERN B.C. FRIENDS OF CHILDREN SOCIETY?Northern B.C. Friends of Children Society offically incorporated in 1998 and is mandated to assist children in medical need from birth up to 19 years of age throughout northern B.C. WHAT TYPES OF ASSISTANCES DOES FRIENDS OF CHILDREN OFFER?We offer counseling, healthcare resource information and direct grants to children in medical need. Grants provided are directed towards medical travel and accomodations; therapy and specialized equipment that are not usually covered by provincial healthcare programs. HOW DOES ONE ACCESS SERVICES AT FRIENDS OF CHILDREN?People can call our medical crisis line at 250-564-2217 or toll free 1-866-564-2217. HOW MUCH OF B.C. DOES FRIENDS OF CHILDREN COVER?Our region covers over three-quarters of our province. From Williams Lake to the Yukon border, Queen Charlotte Islands to the Alberta border, and now the East Kootenay Region IS THERE A FEE FOR ACCESSING SERVICES FRIENDS OF CHILDREN PROVIDES?No, there is no fee. We do ask for a confirmation from your referring doctor when issuing travel, prescription, therapy and medical equipment grants.
