Assistance to Families
Friends of Children (FOC) is a registered charity providing free and confidential service for Northern BC and East Kootenay families with children in medical need. Our 1.866.564.2217 toll-free number (press #2) will reach our team who will help you fill-out your family and child’s information.
Your information will be kept private and confidential. You can also email support@friendsofchildren.ca to receive forms needed to complete your application.
Original receipts must be submitted to our office (within 90 days) related to the value of the grant provided by FOC and we require a letter from the clinic or hospital afterward confirming that the child attended their appointment. Friends of Children will not reimburse or pay for items or services purchased prior to our approval.
Support may come in the form of:
- Assisting with financial support for travel, meals and accommodation involving children’s medical needs.
- Providing resource information and emotional support.
- Coordinating support through our links with other organizations.
Privacy Responsibilities
Friends of Children Society is aware of its responsibilities under the Personal Information Protection and Electronics Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable privacy legislation. It limits collection of personal information to that necessary to serve its members in providing them with information and member services. Friends of Children does not share, exchange, trade or sell members’ personal information to external parties. Personal information is stored in a secure manner and protected against unauthorized access. Friends of Children staff and volunteers are aware of their obligations and responsibilities to safeguard individuals’ rights to privacy and are required to adhere to an internal confidentiality policy.
